Eating Disorders & The Dance Industry
The thinking skill of contextualization allows room to explore pretty much any topic under the sun. The issue of eating disorders in the dance industry is one that is very special, important, and personal to me. Since it was an easy topic to contextualize, I did a project on it to kick off my second year in Apollo!
Art
For the art portion of this project, I created a painting. This painting demonstrates what the dance industry appears to be on the outside versus the harsh reality dancers involved with it can go through.
English
For English, I created a video essay. This video essay contextualizes the topic of eating disorders within a few different aspects of the industry. I looked at the areas of recreational dance, competitive dance, the professional industry, as well as the world of ballet.
